Announcing the Codesmith NYC Onsite Immersive: Launching In-Person Teaching and Learning in New York

In response to COVID-19, Codesmith has continued offering our highly-rated Software Engineering Immersive programs exclusively online. Over the past two years, we have seen outstanding outcomes and have grown our online community through both our Full-Time and Part-Time Remote Immersive programs. We are so excited to announce our NYC Onsite Immersive with our first in-person cohort set to begin on October 24th, 2022 at our new campus in NoMad!

NYC ONSITE IMMERSIVE DETAILS

Start Date: The first in-person cohort starts on October 24, 2022. 

Admissions Process: Applications are now open!

Campus Location: The NYC Onsite Immersive will be held at the new Codesmith NYC campus in the NoMad neighborhood. 

Cohort Size: We expect the cohort to consist of 34-36 residents.

Academic Team: The Academic Team will consist of a Lead Instructor, an Engineering Instructor, and an Engineering Mentor, all of whom will be announced before the cohort begins. 

Onsite vs. Remote: The NYC Onsite Immersive curriculum and daily schedule are the same as our remote programs - the only difference is your instruction, pair-programming, and group projects will be in-person. Check out the Immersive Program Curriculum for more information on what to expect.

The October 24 cohort will be fully onsite and in-person, which means that all NYC Onsite Immersive program residents will be expected to be onsite every day of the scheduled program, unless you have an excused absence.

FAQ

When is the start date? The first cohort will start October 24, 2022.

What is the application deadline? September 7, 2022.

Will there be concurrent cohorts? The first cohort will complete the first 7 weeks of the program onsite as the only cohort, then they will be joined by the next cohort starting December 12, 2022.

Will I be able to interview at the office or tour the location? All initial and technical interviews for the onsite program will continue to be held remotely. There will be public in-person workshops in the weeks leading up to the cohort start, which will give residents the opportunity to check out the campus before the cohort start date.

Where is the campus going to be located? The Codesmith NYC Campus will be located in the NoMad neighborhood. Exact address will be shared in the coming weeks.

Who will be the instructors? The Academic Team will consist of a Lead Instructor, an Engineering Instructor and and Engineering Mentor, all will be announced in August.

What is the daily schedule? The daily schedule will be the same as all of our Full-Time Programs - students are expected to be in attendance for morning stand-ups at 9am and stay until 8pm Monday -Friday, and 9am - 4:30pm on Saturday. Students are welcome to use the building to work on course materials outside of the instruction hours. 

How many students will be in the cohort? We expect the first cohort to have 34-36 students.

How does onsite differ from the remote program? The onsite curriculum and daily schedule is the exact same as our remote programs - the only difference is that you will have live in-person instruction and pair and do group work in-person.

Will students in the NYC Onsite have the opportunity to do some of the coursework remotely? You’re required to be onsite during the structured hours, and more than welcome to work at home during unstructured hours. If you are doing the onsite program, you are expected to be onsite every day of the program, unless you have an excused absence. 

I’ve applied to or been accepted to a different immersive program. Am I able to transfer into the NYC Onsite program? If you are already in the admissions process, you do not need to fill out an NYC Onsite Interest Form or submit another application.

Instead, please reach out to your Admissions Coordinator for an NYC Onsite: Transfer Request Form by Sunday July 31st.

In the meantime, you can continue the admissions process for the program you are currently interviewing for, and your application will be transferred over at the same stage you are currently at in the admissions process on August 1st.**Please note that we are expecting to have a significant waitlist for Cohort 1. Submitting the NYC Onsite Interest Form or the NYC Onsite: Transfer Request Form does not guarantee a spot in the Oct. 24th cohort.
